Motobecan Mobylette 50V Vintage Mopeds

The Mobylette 50v is arguably the most popular model by the Frech vintage moped manufacturer Motobecane.  Crystal’s (https://www.instagram.com/crystola_magnette/) Motobecane Mobylette 50V is today’s Vintage Moped of the Day.  She found this complete 50v on eBay and then drove about 16 hours round trip to pick it up.  When she got the moped, it was running but making loud engine noises. The paint and chrome were in decent shape but needed to be polished.

Once she brought it home she got to work on cleaning it up with the help of her soul mate Jesus.  The loud engine noise was because of the busted crank bearings.  So the engine got a rebuild with new bearings, seals, and gaskets.  While rebuilding the engine, it also received some light performance mods listed below.

After the engine issues were resolved, she began cleaning her up.  To make the moped feel more classic, some whitewall tires were mounted.  The paint was hand-buffed to restore the original blue paint.  New decals replaced the missing or damaged originals.  Finally, all the chrome was hand-polished.

      Hello Jack,

I’m not sure, this is built by someone else. I’m not sure if they still have it. We do have a Motobecane project bike if you’re interested in building something similar to this.
