Urban Hobbit | MOPED OF THE DAY

0

I saw this custom Honda Hobbit for sale on the Green Bastards Moped Club Facebook page.  It’s a mashup of two Honda mopeds built by Chuck Bruns.  Here is the description he has for it: “Honda Hobbit and Honda Urban Express, I call it an Urban Hobbit. It’s a fully functional MOPED. With 2 working gas tanks.”

A Honda Urban express is a small two-stroke.  Its also known as a no-ped because it is very moped in its nature but does not have pedals.  They are kick-start engines with the rear wheel attached to the engine/swingarm like a scooter.  The Urban is the latest generation of the Honda Express models.  It’s bigger than the previous Express models, the notable differences are the seat and front suspension.

With that being said, Chuck took two of the big features of the Urban Express and mashed them onto a Honda Hobbit PA50II.  I like the appearance of the build, I don’t know if these parts add benefits over the original Hobbit seat and front forks and all.

From personal experience, a Hobbit with a performance upgrade tends to be gas guzzlers.  I’ve been on many rides where my Hobbit has run out of gas.  This build having a functional spare tank would be a huge draw for me.  The PA50 came with two seat options a smaller or longer seat.   Most have the smaller seat that can get a little uncomfortable.  The Urban Express is known for having a large comfortable seat.  Adding those on there is an upgrade in my eyes.  He’s improved fuel range and rides comfort.

What are your opinions on the front-end swap?
