This Puch Magnum MKII build was inspired by a previous post of the Pretty bombers Magnum. After sharing that build on this site, I had the opportunity to build a magnum myself. I wanted to build something similar but a little different. At first glance, the two builds are very similar. This is a mild custom build, for the most part, it is very original looking.

When I got the magnum, it was running and ready to ride but just did not look good in my opinion. I had a few Puch parts collected over some time that are new but had just been stored away. I’m happy to say that the bike turned out exactly as I imagined it would in my head.
I got the Magnum with some rough paint. Surface rust was coming through the paint on the tank. I stripped all the original paint and decals then painted them gloss black. I was lucky enough to get the fenders and rack with the bike, but they were not installed and had rust. If you follow my Instagram back when COVID quarantine started, I shared images of the chrome being cleaned and polished.
I like the original look of the Puch Magnum LTD, that was my vision for this but in a black and white colorway. The wheels and frame determined the colorway. I had these powder-coated wheels for some time waiting for a Puch build. After throwing them on the color choices were black or white for the tank and covers. I created new decals for the build and sourced OEM headlight and taillight. Upgraded the front suspension from some stock Free Spirit forks to a set of traditional EBR forks. Finished the front end with an LTD fairing.

Engine
The engine bike was running when I got it, but it sounded bad. I opened it up and replaced the bearings. It had a bad crankshaft bearing that was the cause of the noise. After that I swapped out the BING carburetor for this PHBG style carburetor. I cleaned up the engine and painted it to match the bikes color scheme.
