The pumpkin king 1977 Motobecane Mobylette 50L to 50V conversion

The Motobecane Mobylette 50L is the non-variated base model of the Motobecane Mobylette.  The 50V is the variated model.  Like most or all variated bikes, this offers a better low to high gear range/ratio.

About Build:
Bob got this from a friend, the bike was running but like all Mopeds, they can break down at random. This 1977 Motobecane 50L was no different. It’s been rebuilt and converted to a 50v cause he added a variator and all the other pieces to make it a 50v. Every inch of the bike has been cleaned and polished. It took a little under 6 months to find all the original pieces. The carburetor was is the only part not original to the bike. The old Gartner carburetor is replaced by a Deloroto 14.12. The sides were completely trashed and rusted. Bob decided to go away from the classic white and go with a black and orange Halloween color scheme. This also meant swapping the speedo box, repainting the headlight bucket, and adding black details to the gas cap.

The seat and upholstery details are custom. Custom bags with orange stitching to tie it all together. He found the original leg shields as well. “It’s been a super fun project and being able to work with a ton of talented artists, moped enthusiasts and craftsmen too many to list has been fantastic. I’ve enjoyed every minute restoring this classic with friends and putting my own spin on it.” – Bob
