Puch Freespirit Vintage Moped

Mike’s (https://www.instagram.com/mikekuriger/) Puch Freespirit build is today’s Moped of the Day.  The Freespirit is a catalog moped from Sears.  This vintage moped could be ordered from a Sears catalog in the ’70s like that of the Pinto/Swinger by J.C. Penney.  Though it may appear similar to a Pinto, the frame and size of this Kromag are closer to the Puch Magnum.  The Magnum and Freespirit have forks, frame, swingarm, and shocks that are almost the same.

In my opinion, the Pinto has a nice gas tank design, but the Freespirit feels like a more solid moped.  The rear rack available on the Sears Free Spirit fits a 1-gallon reserve gas tank with ease.  It’s one of the most useful racks on a moped I’ve seen.  Let us know which you would have preferred, or did, from catalog mopeds.
