This is one of the nicest Derbi Variant restorations or rebuilds I’ve seen. It was John’s of the Metal Ponies moped gang. He got this Derbi not running, the pedals wouldn’t engage the engine, non working brakes, and various other issue with vintage pedal mopeds. The Derbi is a Spanish made two stroke with a variated transmission.
DERBI VARIANT APPEARANCE
John stripped this Derbi down completely. He painted the frame a purple color. The decals were replaced with new ones. All of the black on the moped where refinished with fresh paint. The original forks were bent, John replaced those with good set of Derbi forks. New tires on the black painted spoke wheels. New controls, levers, cables, grips and handlebars were added to the forks. The taillight was swapped out for a lower profile light, and finally the seat was reupholstered.
ENGINE
The engine was completely rebuilt, cases split and new bearings, seals, and gaskets added.

Where did you get the Derbi decal/stickers? I need some for my Variant. Thank you.
