Military Vespa Ciao | Vintage Moped Builds

On Instagram, I stumbled upon Ciaokes’ impressive collection of Vespa Ciao mopeds, each showcasing exceptional style and craftsmanship. Initially, what caught my attention was a military-inspired Vespa Ciao that stood out among his posts. Notably, this rugged model boasts a distinctive color choice, perfectly blending urban commuting with battlefield flair. Additionally, its matte-finish handlebars, chunky tires, and distressed seat add to its tough, battle-hardened aesthetic. Furthermore, this unique Vespa Ciao’s bold design diverges from the traditional sleek lines of its Italian counterparts. Ultimately, ciaokes’ creative vision has transformed this humble moped into a showstopping, military-inspired masterpiece.

The Vespa Ciao is a timeless Italian classic, with its sleek design. Initially, its compact frame and lightweight construction make it an ideal mode of transportation for commuting. Additionally, the Ciao’s robust 50cc engine delivers impressive power, propelling riders through city streets with ease. Moreover, its simple yet elegant aesthetic, characterized by its step-through design and classic style, evokes a nostalgic charm. Notably, the Vespa Ciao engine is reliable and fuel efficient.

Appearance

Ciaokes drew heavy inspiration from military utility vehicles, transforming this Vespa Ciao into a rugged off-road machine. Initially, olive drab paint coats the frame, wheels, and accessories, setting the tone for its utilitarian design. Additionally, a larger, knobbier tire up front enhances its off-road capabilities, giving it a bold, adventurous look. Notably, the Ciao’s design allows for heavy loads without compromising ground clearance, thanks to the absence of rear shocks.
Furthermore, Ciaokes has outfitted the rear with two Jerry can fuel tanks and an ammo box on the rack, amplifying its military-inspired aesthetic. Ciaokes strategically mounts a pick axe tool near the seat, complementing its rugged design. Meanwhile, he stripped the seat to its bare metal seat pan, achieving a no-frills, utilitarian aesthetic. To enhance structural integrity, ciaokes installs a robust center cross bar, bolstering the step-through frame.
Moving forward, a brighter, larger headlight illuminates the path, paired with lower and wider handlebars for improved control. The forks are equipped with a compact shovel on one side and a first aid storage box on the other, demonstrating Ciaokes’ attention to detail and practicality. Ultimately, this customized Vespa Ciao embodies the spirit of military utility vehicles, ready to tackle challenging terrain.

Engine

The Vespa Ciao’s engine is an air-cooled engine with a single-speed transmission, belt-driven mechanism, and pedal-start system. Moreover, the engine’s specifications boast 1.5-2.5 HP, achieving top speeds of approximately 40-50 km/h or 20-30 mp/h. Notably, its fuel efficiency reaches up to 100 mpg, while keeping emissions relatively low. Furthermore, enthusiasts can modify the engine through porting, cylinder boring, and performance exhaust systems to unlock increased power.  A Jamarcol exhaust is all that has been added to this Ciao.
