HOW I LOAD A MOPED INTO A TRUCK

0

In this video, I’m showing the technique I use to transport a moped in a pickup truck. This method works for trailers and hitch receivers too.  You will need two ratchet straps at minimum and for the easiest method.  The same can be done with one long strap, but I like to use two ratchet or sinch straps.

To load the bike, use a motorcycle ramp.  If you don’t have a ramp, then the method I like to use is to lift the front wheel onto the tailgate of the truck.  Then lift the rear of the bike by the rack or swing arm.   I roll it into the bed and hook one strap to the handlebar and the other end to a tie-off point in the truck bed.  I let the bike lean over a bit and put tension on the strap to hold it in place.  Next, I walk around to the other side of the truck and hook the second strap from the handlebar to the mounting point on the truck bed.  I tighten the second strap most of the way.  Then go back to the first strap and tighten it some more so it will prop up the moped center and not lean over anymore.

Lastly, I like to make sure both straps are tight and the bike isn’t loose in the bed.  That’s all I do.  If the rear of the bike is moving too much, I use a third strap on the rear to help keep the moped centered and secure.
