Ed’s Moped Shop built this custom Vespa Grande. Vespa Grande is one of the larger mopeds available. They are designed to carry up to two riders. The variated CVT transmission allows the engine to change between gear ranges to apply the necessary power when needed.
Vespa moped engines are rotary engines paired with small carburetors. With that design, they are capable of reaching top speeds of 30 mph from the factory. With some simple bolt-on performance parts higher speeds can be reached.
One of my favorite traits about the Vespa engine is being able to reach higher speeds with a small carburetor. Most moped performance upgrades require larger carburetors but a Vespa has the potential to reach those same top speed numbers without the large carburetor. In theory, this should be more fuel-efficient. There are more reasons I love Vespa Mopeds but I’ll list that another day.
Ed did an amazing job with this build. The appearance is like no other. It looks factory built but is actually better. Wheels, suspension, performance, and features have been upgraded.
