The Batavus Mondial is one of the few Batavus mopeds that didn’t come with a Laura moped engine.  The Grand Prix was one of the others. Mondial models came with the variated Peugeot 103 engine.  This Mondial belongs to Joe of the Magnetos moped gang.

BATAVUS MONDIAL

Joe got this Batavus Mondial from Austin Mopeds of Austin Texas.  It was running but he took a spill on it one day and the result of trying to get it back running was a full rebuild/restoration.

APPEARANCE

The bike was repainted with a close to original gold finish on the gas tank, under seat mount, and headlight fairing.  The forks, fenders, frame, handlebars and engine swing arm were refinished black. The seat was in great condition and has stood up the test of time. Batavus decals help keep the original look. In the photos it is missing the “side covers” that continue the gold paint finish from the tank to the seat.
