1982 Mobylette Stylo GT

1982 Mobylette Stylo GT was built by MobyletteGtstylo (https://www.instagram.com/mobylettegtstylo/) out of Spain.  I don’t see a lot of Motobecane or “Moby” builds that are overall “complete”.  The Moby looks good and goes fast. Most of the time the focus is on one of three areas: performance, appearance, or track racing.

Most French builds like Moby’s will have a heavy focus on the performance at a moped rally that I have noticed.  The engine will have several “go-fast” parts that are expensive and hard to find.  These mopeds might look ratty but be fast.  Or I will see some clean or restored Moby’s that run a solid 35 mph with mild performance upgrades like a carburetor and exhaust.  Lastly, there are the track bike builds.  These builds can look cool with race fairings.  However, I suspect this is for aerodynamics over appearance.

When I saw this Mobylette Stylo GT on Instagram it grabbed my attention.  It was originally a green color with a torn seat, as most vintage mopeds come.  They tore down the moped and painted the frame and forks.  Reupholstered the seat and replaced broken and rusty parts.  It seems like in the beginning it was only restored with a rebuilt stock engine.  Later getting the performance treatment shown below.
